Congratulations! You've been given a job offer! While it may be an exciting time in your career, there are a few steps to consider before taking on a new job. From reviewing your offer letter to signing your name on the dotted line, here are a few suggestions from our team before you accept your new position:
Take Your Time
Before officially accepting this new offer, take the time to think about the process of taking on the new opportunity. If you’re able to, ensure that you are able to receive an offer letter with the full details of the position, the salary and any other information that you may need in making your final decision to accept or not. Make sure you are able to take the time to process your job offer and ensure that accepting the job will ultimately be the right decision in the long run.
You may also consider consulting the ideas of another person or professional. Having a second opinion before making your ultimate decision may also help you in the long run.
Prepare Your Notice
If you are currently in a role in which you are looking to leave, be sure to prepare a letter of resignation to your current employer. Be sure to express your gratitude for the opportunities and experiences with your current employer and remain respectful and professional in your resignation.
Sign, Sealed, Delivered
After carefully reviewing your job offer, it is finally time to sing your offer letter! If you’d also like, you can send a job acceptance letter, formally accepting the position, thanking your new employer for the opportunity to join their team. This letter can also outline your understanding of salary expectations, and any other benefits that are associated with the offer letter.
Finalizing with Extra Details
Before your first day, be sure to iron out any last-minute details. Whether it’s organizing and planning any last-minute orientation details, signing any onboarding paperwork, or ensuring all personal documentation is up-to-date. This will help you in your transition into your new role.
