Looking to change your career path? Here is some insight into what into what employers are seeking, the steps to make the most out of your job search, and landing you the job want.
Skillset and interviewing
As technology, economy, and times change, so does the skill set that employers will need from job seekers. Business Insider highlights communication skills, negotiation skills, complex problem solving and critical thinking. These are skills that, during interviews, you will want to emphasize that you have- and how you can use them to help their team.
One of our recruiters, Juliana, shares from her experience working with both candidates and employers: “Employers are seeking candidates whose prior experience is transferable in their next role. Also, employers want candidates who will share the same passion and drive for their business/services. With employers receiving hundreds of resumes a week it’s important that resume have keywords to make their profile stand out. That is what is great about working with a recruiter; we can help curate your resume to make the best impression on the hiring managers!”
Brush up on your Resume
Look your resume over and make sure it’s up to date and ready to be sent out to employers. You’ve likely changed or grown a little bit since you last updated your resume. Review things like your professional summary, your skills, and don’t forget to include your current position.
Get your job applications in now
Now that you’ve brushed up on your resume and interviewing skills, it’s a good idea to begin sending out applications. It’s hard to get things started while the holidays are going on. You have a better chance of employers getting to your application if you apply before all of the holiday madness. Plus, just like we all have goals we make for the new year, companies have new initiatives to set- and they will increase hiring to meet them. In a nutshell- apply, apply, apply!
