This year PCG supports She’s the First- an organization dedicated to providing girls with an education. The force of the girls’ education movement really makes an impact, especially with inspiring figures like Malala Yousafzai at the head. She’s the First is dedicated to girls in low-income countries who will be the first in their families to graduate from high school.
With the holiday spirit in the air- we’re going to give you a firsthand look at She’s the First and how you can give back to organizations like it today.
Tammy Tibbetts founded She’s the First in 2010. She initially wanted to get millennials involved with girls education through social media. With the help of co-founder Christen Brandt, the two women shaped She’s the First into what is today. Since 2010 the company has provided 2,216 scholarships, 805 scholars, 180 graduated scholars, 216 campus chapters, and 200 campus alumni.
Likewise, She’s the First provides four key elements to each of the girls they support:
Scholarships
100% of every donation made to She’s the First goes toward scholarships for the girls in low-income countries seeking an education.
Mentorships :
Mentors and scholarship recipients follow a curriculum-based program. This ensures both parties’ goals are met.
Health and Wellness :
She’s the First provides any medication the girls may need when feeling under the weather. Likewise, they provide school uniforms and nutritious food to keep the girls at their best.
Boarding :
Not all schools have available housing for students, but whenever they do, She’s the First covers the boarding costs and fees. This keeps the girls surrounded by a positive educational environment.
Moreover, She’s the First creates global awareness through its programs and various opportunities. She’s the First’s Young Professionals Network dedicates themselves to spreading awareness through millennials. The Young Professionals Network offers perks like professional development, creative participation in various fundraisers, and scholarship opportunities for girls. The program, based in New York City, invites all young professionals to send in an application. Once accepted, each member pays $40 annual dues that disperses $10 for YPN events and $30 to scholarships. Consider joining today!
Support of organizations like She’s the First wouldn’t be possible without our charity involvement program, Pyramid Possibilities. We strive to give back to the community and give our employees the opportunity to make a difference. We believe that giving back is a huge part of running a successful company.
