Often, a 9 am – 5 pm desk job doesn’t allow a lot of time for activity outside of, well, your job. Especially if you lose time commuting back and forth each day. Likewise, people often get stuck in the convenience of eating out every day or overlooking basic health needs when they’re busy. Here are three guidelines to follow in order to make the most of your health while you’re preoccupied with work!
Fit in activity where you can
This can mean multiple different things. For example, if your commute requires you to take a subway, like a lot of our team here at PCG, then try walking those few blocks instead. Likewise, instead of taking the elevator to the fourth floor, walk up those few flights of stairs! Once you’re home for the night, take a walk around your block or head to the gym for a half hour. Fitting in small incremental bits of activity will add up- in a good way.
Healthy lunches for the win
The taco food truck down the street might be calling your name, but resist! Check out of some of our favorite healthy pack-your-own lunches while at the office. The list is full of sandwiches, soups, and salads that won’t make you feel that post-meal lull. Staying energized is important to maintaining a clean bill of health, after all! And of course, you’ll save a ton of money when you pack a lunch. Don’t forget to drink lots of H20!
Stay conscious
Most of all, you’ll want to stay conscious of your health. This means getting enough sleep, scheduling any relevant doctors appointments, and focusing on personal time. Yes- that means putting down your phone and taking a breath! It’s easy to overlook these health factors when you’re super busy. Dedicate some time for self-care and add it to your planner or mobile calendar. You’ll thank yourself for it later!
