Some of us are fortunate enough to have a job that allows our creativity to flourish! Others might find there’s not much creativity going on between the hours of 9a-5p. Luckily, there are a handful of ways to ensure we’re using our creative brains- regardless of whether or not we have a strictly “creative” job.
Engage in creative hobbies
One of the easiest ways to stay creative is to engage in any sort of creative hobby or activity. This can be daily poem writing, taking a pottery class after work, or creating a tasty food inspired Instagram account. Likewise, even reading your favorite fiction novel during your lunch break will surely get those creative juices flowing. Allowing yourself to have a creative outlet will keep you energized to take on the rest of your day.
Use your innovation to your advantage
Though you might not necessarily be required to be creative in your role, you might have some creative impulses waiting to be acted upon. Perhaps you recognize a much more efficient way to organize company files, or maybe you’ve got a really creative way of taking notes ( OneNote is a PCG favorite). Use your innovative tricks to your advantage by spreading the word. Moreover, the more creative ideas you contribute to the team, the more likely you’ll be asked to do it again – and maybe even on a larger scale!
Practice general mindfulness
General mindfulness can mean many different things to each individual. Some people take solace in yoga, while others might find journaling every night works best for them. Practicing mindfulness, in whichever way you choose, will lead you to a more open-minded life. You’ll soon see you have clearer thoughts and an improved ability to focus. Likewise, if practiced enough, your mindfulness will prove to others that you’re eager to think outside of the box!
