Although it may be tempting to reach for another cup of coffee or an energy drink when you feel a crash coming on at work, there are plenty of other ways to get a boost of energy on the job. Here are some of our favorites!
Get some fresh air.
It can be daunting to sit in the same office space for extended periods of time. To break things up and to get your blood flowing again, try taking a short walk outside. Whether it is two minutes long or twenty, any time you spend outside can help you feel more awake during the workday.
Snack on something.
Your body needs fuel to perform at its best and fuel is found in food. To prevent yourself from burning out on the job, keep a few snacks on hand, but remember to choose your snacks wisely! Healthy choices like toasted nuts or fruit are much better options for both your energy levels and your overall health than a bag of chips.
Take a break to stretch.
Stretching, surprisingly, has various health benefits for your body. One of these includes increasing blood flow to the brain, which leads to raised energy levels. Doing just even a few desk stretches could instantly give you a boost at work.
"I like to just get up and stretch periodically throughout the day," said Haley Tanella, a member of our marketing department "If I'm feeling sluggish, a quick stretch or a brief walk can help me get back on focus for the rest of my workday."
Take a moment to socialize with your coworkers.
Although you are on the clock, everyone in the office could use a break to laugh or chat for a minute or so. Share a funny story from the weekend or discuss something going on in the news with your coworker. Taking a quick pause from your work can actually help you be more productive in the long run!
