In honor of Women’s History Month, Pyramid Consulting Group is celebrating women in the workplace! As a company founded by a female CEO, PCG is always excited to learn about and collaborate with female-founded companies that share some of the same values that we do.
This month we’re sitting down with a few women from women-run businesses all across the country to learn about their individual stories and what it means to be women in the workplace.
This week we are featuring the fabulous (and delicious) Maggie Louise Confections! MLC is based in Austin, Texas and was brought to life by founder Maggie Callahan, a lawyer-turned-chocolatier who decided to pursue her love of art and food after her corporate career in law was not filling the creative void in her life.
We had the opportunity to speak with Dorelia Miller, the Director of Client Experience at Maggie Louise to understand her point-of-view when it comes to women in the workplace.
After joining the team in 2016, Dorelia has seen Maggie Louise grow into one country’s fastest growing confection companies, and she says that the support of the women behind the chocolate is what helps the company thrive.
“We are so lucky to have an amazing woman leader,” said Miller, “and I love that our company is made up of 85% female employees. We can really relate well, not only to each other, but to our customers, and I think that’s pretty special.”
When asked about the success of women-owned businesses in today’s society, Doriela expressed that the more, the merrier.
“I think having more women-run businesses is great for our economy, and it really helps to open the door for the coming generations by having a face and a name representing successful women in business.”
And as for the growth and rise of women in the workplace? Miller says today’s women are truly leading the way.
“I think that women are truly changing the culture of business. Having more women holding leadership roles in today’s market is leading the way for more opportunity for young women now, especially with strong mentoring programs in women-run business,” explained Miller.
Dorelia also mentions that she believes that the continuing success of women-run businesses in the future will become more prevalent and influential in the coming future.
